Black Lives Matter protest in London in wake of George Floyd’s death

The anti-racism demonstration was held to condemn the killing of George Floyd, a 46-year-old African-American man who died on 25 May after being detained by police officers in Minneapolis (Minnesota), USA, and to express solidarity with the BLM-led protests currently taking place throughout the US. Video footage recorded by bystanders appeared to show police officer Derek Chauvin forcefully kneeling on Floyd's neck for several minutes while the latter pleaded that he couldn't breathe and three other officers passively looked on. Outrage over this new alleged killing of an unarmed black man at the hands of US police has spread across the country and abroad, giving rise to many spontaneous protests around the globe and some riots in major American cities.
